The Story

How it Began…

In 1978, the artist began experimenting with
collage-based art illustrations while scouring through art books at flea
markets and vintage antique stores on the weekends in search of inspiration.

In the mid-1990s, he went full steam ahead with just a dream, an X-Acto knife, watercolors, and his
imagination, while working out of his small garage at the time.

The company he started was called Art Juxtaposed, a fun, whimsical look at art history, as rewritten by his creative imagination.

He also tackled subjects, such as religion, politics and basic societal ideas or norms that
many may have felt were off-limits.  He
addressed them head on, using his sharp wit to try and make people laugh
at themselves, the world and the ridiculousness of it all

He hoped to provoke people to think further. Nothing was
off-limits because it was all about moving people, one way or the other.

He began exposing his work to the masses at shows across the country and the reaction was
overwhelming…

It was obvious that the world at that time needed a sense of humor.

They were starving for laughter and something different.

Workaholic and multi-disciplinary were buzzwords of the 90s that clearly describe Nelson De La Nuez’s work ethic while touring and selling his art all over the country.
As they say, the rest is history..
You will never look at fine art the same way again...Enjoy.
